  • How to combat the issue of internet downtime?
    Internet service down is usually caused by two major reasons. One is the power cut of the building where your company is situated. Another common reason is related to the IT equipment, i.e. the computer or server equipment failure. Given the fact that we are entering into the 5G world, mobile network is the most reliable and vibrant network which guarantees a stable internet access, we are able to build a contigency network to idLink system, which runs 24 hours with use of data SIM technology on top of your office internet network.   • Will idLink be exposed to the fatal risk of force door open by power cut unlike those using door controllers?
    The answer is NO and there are actually certain misconceptions in the questions being asked. First, all doors will be opened once there's a power cut and this is always a strict request of fire departments in different countries. A door controller is able to protect the door from opening when someone tries to compromise a reader in the front door because the controller is powered and connected with an independent power supply and that door controller is usually situated inside a premises, which is difficult for reach by a burglar. However, if the door controller lost power, the door will still be opened. For idLink system, although the access reader is equipped with a direct contact relay but it's not linked directly to the electronic lock but a smart power supply unit (PSU) inside the office or premises, which is backed up by a 24-hour contingency battery with dry contact to the electronic lock. Therefore, compromsing the front door access reader cannot open the door, nor will the power cut in the office building stop idLink from operating. Of course, for safety and as advocated by government authorities, installing an emergency switch like Break Glass Detector, is always desirable.
  • Do you need to change your existing locks by using idLink?
    It is basically an answer of NO Need. The idLink reader decodes the Dynamic QR Code in the mobile ID via cloud and authenticate access. The reader is compatible with most of the existing electric / magnetic locks (except hotel locks at the moment). The idLink system allows users to open a wide variety of acccess points including gates, doors, cabinets, lockers, with their related credentials (Dynamic QR codes or Mifare Cards).   • Is it easy to add more access devices to cope with business expansion?
    idLink's patented door-opening solution via virtual controller on cloud enables a secure operation of access control system without any use or need of physical door controllers on-site. Multi-doors and multi-sites access control system can be created simply by adding relevant groups and corresponding readers to be attached there. There is no need to purchase expensive 4-door, 8-door or 16-door controllers to expand a system anymore. There is generally no limit to the number of access readers that can be added.
  • Is Anti-Passback available in idLink Access Control System and easy to apply?
    The answer is a definite YES. Since all readers are connected over cloud in the same network, there would not be any problem of data synchronization over different door controllers. It is actually easier to manage anti-passback than before because there'd not be any complicated wiring and programming needed for physical controllers. Anti-Passback can be set up per door and group under idLink. That is, anti-passback performed by a pair of IN and OUT readers, or a group of readers in standard operation. Logical pre-requisite of entering which door(s) before entering a door could be done by tailor-made programming on demand.

  • What is AccessControl-as-a-Service (ACaaS)?
    ACaaS is one kind of cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Instead of the traditional practice of one-off equipment or solution sales, the customer only pays to what he or she agrees upon the time period of the contracting service. Usually SaaS is offered on a monthly or yearly subscription basis and there's no need for a customer to install any software but everything (including the related hardware installed) will be managed by an administration portal released by the service provider once the service contract is signed. ACaaS is rendered in a total solution concept. There is no need for the customer to pay for the related hardware in the solution but installation, testing and commissioning, pipping, etc. will not be included in common practice.

  • What are the advantages of ACaaS over conventional practice?
    Lower initial Investment Threshold Only pay for what you need and for however long you need. After the contract is finished, there is no pain to switch to a newer and more advanced system. Lower Total Ownership Cost ACaaS is offered because the most expensive component parts are eliminated. For example, in the case of idLink, physical single-door or multi-door controllers are eliminated in the first place. Then, there's no need to install software in all related PCs at different locations. A lot of hardware and maintenance costs are saved. What matters will be the internet access the customer needs. Higher Scalability When your organizatgion grows, simply add the access control readers and put them onto the system, without any other software investment to upgrade the access software or infrastructure. Work on Both PC & MAC A true ACaaS is developed using true cloud language instead of putting a PC based software for use on cloud. It works on both PC and MAC IT environment. That means, you can set up all necessary access control readers and management (such as assigning readers to doors, access rights to staff, anti-passback set up over different doors, etc) on cloud via your cloud adminstration account.
